Although the Savanna is still a healthy biome, there are certain environmental problems the ecosystem faces. The problems include:
- Drought/overuse or overextension of water resources.
- Overhunting of previously mentioned endangered species.
- Overuse of land for agriculture or grazing, thus resulting in desertification and infertile soils, which in turn is bad for the crops that the land was initially intended for.
There are multiple national parks and nature preserves that are dedicated to the well-being and enjoyment of the Savanna biome. Here are a few:
- Maasai Mara National Reserve (Africa's most popular safari destination)
- Kidepo Valley National Park (rugged Savanna dominated by Mt. Morungole and transected by the Kidepo and Narus rivers)
